May ‘22: Organization Update

To our Friends of the Pottery:

Construction is complete at Foster/White and we are anticipating our Certificate of Occupancy sometime this or next week. We can still use all hands on deck to get the space ready for the public, so if you have extra time, Please sign up and help us here. We can’t wait to celebrate and get messy with you soon.

Programming

Spring Quarter

Registration is set to start Friday, May 13th, at 10AM. This spring we will have a truncated session, tentatively running from Monday May 23rd - Sunday June 26th. We are offering both formalized classes as well as an extensive studio access option.

Summer Quarter

We will run our summer series from Mon, July 11 - Sun, Sept 4th for 8 weeks. Registration will be in mid to late June. Add yourself to our newsletter to keep in the loop.

Board Expansion

Applications to join our board close Sunday, May 15th. We are looking to add 4 new board members this spring. You can read more about board service at Pottery Northwest here.

ED Search

The Board of Directors is currently engaged in our search for an executive director. We are entering our final rounds of interviews over the next few weeks and hope to welcome a new Executive Director this June.

Equity

Pottery Northwest is engaged in examining structural and cultural features in the organization through an equity & inclusion lens. You can read more about our current efforts to date in our last post. As we reopen and establish our new studio leadership team this month, we will be working on several key projects:

  • Re-writing our studio / community guidelines in a collaborative fashion with our AIR & incoming Apprentices

  • Restarting all-Hands meetings for community leadership to ensure that folks have more communication & Transparency

  • Working with Epiphanies of Equity to provide further assessment, training, and support.
