Community Guidelines
Pottery Northwest strives to create a welcoming and supportive community for each individual who walks through our doors. Our studio is a robust community, all with varying ceramic abilities. Our community guidelines were developed to create a safe and creative studio space that is inclusive and open to all. When at the Pottery Northwest studio, you agree and are bound by these community guidelines.
Please follow these guidelines when engaging within the Pottery Northwest community.
Be Open & Non-Judgmental
Do not engage in behavior or conversations that can make others feel unwelcome. Racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, bullying, elitism, harassment, threats, or violence of any kind is strictly prohibited.
Additionally, behavior that exhibits discrimination, direct or indirect aggression, exclusionary behavior, and/or a pattern of micro-aggressions are also strictly prohibited.
Lead With Kindness & Respect
We are an adaptive, people-centered studio that is grounded in fostering an inclusive and safe community around clay. You must communicate respectfully and kindly with others. Yelling and raising your voice angrily, condescending and derogatory remarks, making fun of another person’s work, or continuous interruption of others is not permitted.
Allow Space For Others
Be mindful and considerate of other members’ space and working time. If you are someone who usually takes up more space than others, please practice making space for others.
Disruptive behavior that distracts or disturbs others from making art is not tolerated. Please remember that you are sharing the studio space with others.
Studio and Staff Criticisms
Our team welcomes and encourages your respectful, productive, and constructive feedback concerning our studio, processes, and resources. We strive to be our best. Hurtful and malicious evaluations of staff performance, and/or snide remarks concerning individual staff members’ jobs are not welcome.
Disrespectful, manipulative, or undermining behavior toward the Pottery Northwest team will not be tolerated. Please be constructive and helpful.
Help Take Care of Our Studio
Clean up your workspace thoroughly, including the wheel, counter, table, etc. Leave it cleaner than you found it.

What happens if I violate the Community Guidelines? If you violate these guidelines, Pottery Northwest will either issue you a written or verbal warning and/or take steps to discontinue your participation in our studio and programming, either temporarily or indefinitely, depending on the severity of the violation. If you repeatedly violate community guidelines, you will be prohibited from the Pottery Northwest studio, programming, and events. If you don’t feel that you can abide by our community guidelines as outlined above, please reconsider engaging with our community.
Pottery Northwest reserves the right to prohibit the participation in our studio of anyone who disregards and violates these guidelines.
