Pottery Northwest is a professional clay facility housed in the bottom level of Foster/White Gallery in Pioneer Square. The space includes separate classrooms for handbuilding and throwing courses, as well as a third hybrid space for members to use while classes are in session. We also have a community kitchen and a non-commercial gallery.
Our spacious 8,000 sq ft. studio annually serves approximately 1,900 community members of many different skill levels. Our community members have access to a wide and growing array of professional equipment, including: 12 house glazes, a wide variety of house slips and washes, 9 electric kilns ranging from 20 cubic feet to 1 cubic foot, 34 pottery wheels (including an adaptive wheel for wheelchair users), 16 handbuilding tables, a Bailey slab roller, two wall-mounted clay extruders, and a Laguna Pro-V spray booth. The space is also equipped with heating and cooling, high-quality day-lighting systems, security cameras, and added air filtration.
