September ‘21: Covid Update

September 9, 2021

Pottery Northwest is committed to the safety and health of our neighbors, community, and staff. As we continue to monitor the dynamic situation of COVID 19, we are moving forward with cautious optimism and adjusting as necessary as we go along. Our goal is to be transparent with our expectations and to provide safe and continued access to clay, creativity, and community.

On September 7th, King County announced it is working on vaccine verification requirements, likely effective in October. Vaccine verification will be required upon entry at some non-essential indoor business activities and other venues. Due to the nature of our programming we expect to be among those affected. Therefore in addition to continuing to require masks at all times for visitors regardless of vaccination status, we are instituting a vaccination mandate for Pottery Northwest’s facilities.

Pottery Northwest Covid-19 Vaccination Mandate Effective September 9, 2021

  • All students, studio access members, instructors, resident artists, and staff are required to submit proof of vaccination or exemption in order to continue using the facility. Walk-in visitors are not currently required to show proof of vaccination due to the short duration they are in the building.

  • Students and studio access members must submit their vaccination status or exemption on or before the first day of class or first visit to the building for studio access, either by completing the online Proof of Vaccination Form, or submitting proof in paper or digital form ((e.g., scan or photo on your phone) at the beginning of their first class session.

  • If you are not already vaccinated, you must provide proof of a weekly negative COVID-19 test, and submit proof of your first vaccination shot by Sept 24th, and proof of full vaccination by October 8th.

  • If you are submitting proof of a negative COVID-19 test, it must be submitted via email to info@potterynorthwest.org with Subject Line: “Covid Test-Your Name” no later than 10 am on the Monday of the week it is valid for, and the test should have taken place in the 7 days prior to submission.

  • We will accept a notarized exemption if you are unable to receive the vaccine and will require proof of a weekly negative COVID-19 test to continue entering the facility.
